The First Joint International Conference

It is clear for the forgoing discussion that the whole of Yorùbá belief systems are built on the firm assumption in the existence of God who is the Creator and Determiner of life of man. The Yorùbá also commemorate the divinities who are believed to be emissaries of God in His theocratic government of the universe through traditional festivals.
It is against the above background that we deem it fit to partner with your organization to organise a five day conference with the theme Traditional festivals in Yorùbá land and in Diaspora: Documentation, Preservation and Protection”
The ever increasing word-wide quest for cultural revival coupled with the global interest in African Traditional religions today are some of the reasons why urgent and conscious step must be taken to document and preserve these traditional religious festivals for generations yet unborn and for posterity
The specific objectives of the conference are:

  1. To document the various tradition religious festivals in Yorùbá and in Diaspora.
  2. To enlighten people on the essence of the traditional religious festivals in Yorùbá and in Diaspora.
  3. To create awareness with the increasing word-wide quest for cultural revival coupled with the global interest in African traditional religions today.
  4. To facilitate the exploration of tourism potentials and economic advantages inherent in Yoruba festivals.
  5. To add to existing body of knowledge on Yorùbá culture and by extension African culture.
To fulfil and actualize a cardinal vision/mission statement of CBAAC to “encourage, initiate, facilitate, and coordinate the retrieval and restoration of the natural and cultural heritage of the Black and African peoples for the purpose of protecting, preserving and protecting them for enhanced understanding and appreciation”.
